1. Who are you? – I’m glad you asked. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is David Thrift. I am an amateur photographer, artist of sorts, craftsman, and blogger residing in and from (technically) Alabama.
  2. What camera do you use? – I’m currently shooting with a Canon SX410is bridge camera, and my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cellphone camera. I love my Canon camera, but I hope to upgrade to one with a higher zoom by 2018.
  3. Are you selling the magazine, and/or prints? – This is all a new project for me. I’ve been taking photos for several years now and just really getting around to trying to do anything with my work. I decided to do a magazine because it would allow me to offer more visuals in a single unit (pdf) for the money. I’m not really sure about prints yet unless I may be able to set up something on “print on demand” through my zazzle shop. Something that would take all the stress off of me of having to fill orders myself. Prints are a consideration, however my heart is really set on doing this magazine, and yes it will be for sale. My magazine is not just this website on it’s own. I am researching the best service to handle serving the product for me and it’s looking like gumroad might be the ticket for me on that. I am pushing to have the first issue done by October this year versus my original launch date of January 2018. Until then, please enjoy my photo posts here on my website. – – – Question was received on Tuesday, April 11th, 2017.
  4. Can you describe what kind of photography by other photographers inspires you in your own work? – I am a huge fan of amateur photography. There are very few professional photographers I can name off the top of my head who’s work I really love. I’m just not a big fan of “stock photography” type work. I prefer seeing ordinary photos taken by every day people, whether they are doing street photography, nature, models, rural, or whatever. Don’t get me wrong, professional photographers have thier place, but it’s the every day underdogs who bring real life to thier work that I really enjoy.

I will update this page as I think of things that my viewers may want to know, however if you have a question you would like to ask about my work, please use the contact form below and shoot me an email. Thanks.
